Jaitley to meet Cong leaders on GST bill

As the Monsoon session is all set to start on July 18, Centre has increased its outreach to the Congress, which remains obstacle the path of GST bill clearance in the Parliament.

An ‘NDTV’ report has said that Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is likely to meet senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma on Thursday to reach compromise.

Meeting comes after after Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar reached out to Azad and Sharma, who lead the main Opposition party in Rajya Sabha, wher the government is in minority.

Both sides seem to have expressed willingness to accommodate each other's stand.

GST would create a cohesive marketplace of a billion consumers by substituting an unwieldy network of central and state taxes with a single tax.
