Now apply for arms and other licences online

Have you been postponing getting an arms licence because of application process? Delhi Police has made applications for all purposes at its licensing branch online.

People can now apply online for licenses of eateries, hotels, guesthouses, swimming pools, arms, etc.Status of applications can also be checked online under this new process.

The latest initiative by Delhi Police was inaugurated by lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung on Friday to ensure 'ease of doing business.'

"Citizens will now be able to apply for licenses from the comfort of their homes and check their status with a few clicks. It would be a win-win situation for the department as well since it would reduce repetitive manual work and give them more time for quality checks," Jung said.

Under the new system, applicants can scan the documents required for a licence and submit it on the portal. The system has incorporated all the necessary safety features as per NIC guidelines.

Delhi Police commissioner Alok Verma said, "This would improve service delivery by simplifying the licensing process without diluting the legal requirements. The system has been designed, developed and implemented internally after consultation with all stakeholders and IT experts."

The licensing department of Delhi Police is an ISO 9001-2008 certified organisation and grants licenses for arms, explosives, restaurants, hotels, cinemas, press and casual performances, to name just a few.The unit handles more than 25,000 applications a year and has around 250-300 visitors every day at its office in Defence Colony.
