In a major administrative reshuffle, Uttar Pradesh government has transferred 67 IAS officers, including 29 district magistrates.
While Bulandshahr district magistrate B Chandrakala has been sent to Bijnore on the same post, Lakhimpur Kheri district magistrate Kinjal Singh has been sent to Faizabad. Both Chandrakala and Singh were facing opposition in their respective districts for the past few months.
Chandrakala had reportedly got a youth arrested for taking a selfie with her and later stirred a row with a section of the local media over the way the matter has been reported. On the other hand, Kinjal Singh was facing opposition from forest officers, who, alleging harassment, have long been demanding her transfer from the district.
Other than these two, the government also transferred Lakhimpur Kheri Chief Development Officer Nitish Kumar, who has been made the district magistrate of Shravasti.
Other districts, which have got new magistrates include Muzaffarnagar, Sitapur, Mainpuri, Amethi, Gonda, Chitrakoot, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Chandauli, Sonbhadra, Hardoi, Hamirpur, Maharajganj, Sidharthanagar, Mahoba, Banda, Shamli, Hathras, Jalaun, Kushinagar, Ghazipur, Bagpat, Farrukhabad and Ballia.
Among senior officers, while principal secretary (Minor Irrigation) Prabhat Kumar has been made resident commissioner of UP in Delhi, principal secretary (Women Welfare) Renuka Kumar has been given his charge. Besides, two divisions have got new commissioners.
While Ranjan Kumar has been made commissioner of Mirzapur, Vijay Bahadur Singh has been made the commissioner of Devipatan Division. In another significant move, while the state government has decided to transfer director (Information) Ashutosh Niranjan as the Gonda district magistrate, Rampur chief development officer Amit Kishore has replaced him.
