Sharad Kumar reappointed as DG, NIA
Retired Indian Police Services (IPS) officer Sharad Kumar has been reappointed as Director General (DG), NIA for a period of one year with effect from November 1st, 2016 as the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved this extension. 
 
Sharad Kumar is an IPS officer of 1979 batch and belongs to Hyderabad cadre. 
 
The officer whose tenure ends on October 31st, 2017 has completed the probe into the 2008 Malegaon blast and trial in sensitive Hindu terror cases such as the Samjhauta Express blasts, and the Dargah Ajmer Sharif (both in 2007) is in the final stage now.
