Suspended Corporate Affairs Ministry officer B.K. Bansal, who was arrested on bribery charges, and his son Yogesh, committed suicide by hanging themselves from ceiling fans at their apartment, Delhi police said on Tuesday.

According to the police, both were found hanging in separate rooms by their maid in their flat in Neelkanth apartment in east Delhi.

The incident took place months after the officer’s wife and daughter had committed suicide on July 19 following interrogation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

CBI has said that it had arrested B.K. Bansal, director genral of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, who was dealing with matters connected to alleged violations by a Mumbai-based pharmaceutical company, on charges of corruption.
