Taranjit Singh Sandhu, an Indian Foreign Service Officer of 1988 batch, will be the next Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka.
He will succeed YK Sinha, who has completed his term.
Sandhu, with a distinguished career spanning over twenty eight years, had earlier served in Sri Lanka as head of the Political Department in the High Commission of India, Colombo from December 2000 to September 2004.
Before taking charge of his responsibilities in Washington D.C., Sandhu was Consul General of India in Frankfurt in Germany from September 2011 to July 2013.
He has also served in Ministry of External Affairs from March 2009 to August 2011, as Joint Secretary (United Nations) and later as Joint Secretary (Administration).
