Centre Shortlists Three Applicants for CMD of OIL

The central government has shortlisted three applicants for the post of the chairman-cum-managing director (CMD) for the country’s second biggest State-owned oil and gas explorer, Oil India Limited, also known as OIL.

Name of the candidates shortlisted for the post are Sunil K Bharti, former officer of Cairn India, PK Rao, Director (Operations) of ONGC Videsh Ltd, and Ashutosh Karnatak, Director (Project) of GAIL India Ltd, are also among the shortlisted candidates.

The list of the 10 shortlisted candidates has already been forwarded to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Out of these 10 shortlisted candidates, four were bureaucrats.

Senior IAS officers Anil Kumar Jain and Ravi Kapoor were among the 10 candidates in the fray for the top job at the OIL.

Anil Kumar Jain is a 1986-batch IAS officer from Madhya Pradesh cadre and is currently the Adviser in NITI Aayog.

Ravi Kapoor is 1986-batch IAS officer from Assam-Meghalaya cadre, who is currently the Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce.

Both of them possess a similarity that both of them have already served previously in the Oil Ministry.
