Haryana Police chief replaced by K P Singh

Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Yashpal Singal was shunted out and replaced with Dr K P Singh, an officer two years his junior.

Both Singal and Singh, a 1985-batch IPS officer, were at Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s residence when the orders were issued.
Singal has been posted as Director General (crime).

The government has also transferred its CID chief, ADGP Shatrujeet Singh Kapur, who has been posted as ADGP (crime), allegedly for the intelligence failure to anticipate the gravity of the Jat agitation that developed into inter-caste clashes across eight districts. The state has already suspended IGP (Rohtak range) Shrikant Jadhav for alleged lapses on the part of state police to pre-empt and curb the violence.

The transfers come just before the Prakash Singh committee, an inquiry panel set up by the state government to determine lapses on the part of government officers in curbing or handling the Jat agitation, is to submit its report, possibly by April 17.

Sources said the panel has found gross lapses on the part of the police top brass.
