Muktesh Chander is new DGP of Goa

The Joint Cadre Authority of AGMU Cadre has appointed 88 batch IPS officer Muktesh Chander as new DGP of Goa Police.

The order appointing Mr Chander was issued on Tuesday evening along with transfers of several other IPS officers within AGMU cadre. DGP of Goa Police T N Mohan along with IGP V Ranganathan were also transferred to Delhi by the same order.

A bachelor of engineering and also a PhD from IIT-Delhi, Chander is also an LLB. He was heading Delhi Traffic Police before being appointed as Goa Police chief.

Goa has been given another lady officer by AGMU cadre authority with the posting of Ms Chandan Chowdhary. It is probably for the first time that three senior positions in Goa Police are held by lady police officers.

Besides Ms Chowdhary, SP of SB Priyanka Kashyap and Traffic SP Suman Goel are currently serving in Goa Police.
