The kharif groundnut crop is expected to be estimated at 54.80 lakh tonnes in 2016-17 against 32.30 lakh tonnes estimated in 2015-16.
According to Solvent Extractors Association (SEA), the kharif groundnut production is expected to increase by 70 percent.
As per Gujarat Government, this year, the groundnut crop is sown in 16.44 lakh hectares during kharif against 12.95 lakh hectares in 2015-16. The estimate is given by a 20 members’ team that visited the leading groundnut producing districts in Gujarat during 12th to 16th October 2016.
According to the report, average yield per hectare has risen to 1790 Kg. per hectare against 1155 Kg. per hectare last year.
Also, this year, Gujarat is expected to harvest 29.40 lakh tonnes during kharif season.
Groundnut is one of the major crops in kharif season and Gujarat is the prominent state growing groundnut.
