PAU joins FieldFresh to raise corn produce

Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has collaborated with FieldFresh Foods after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to undertake a corn productivity research programme.

FieldFresh Foods is a joint venture between Bharti Enterprises & Del Monte Pacific Limited.

The research will focus on the relationship between the genetic make-up, environmental factors and crop management of corn so that a more reliant production system can be developed.

Also, it is done to discover ways of reducing production costs and greenhouse gas emissions.

Fieldfresh will fund this three year long program and will also fund a post-doctoral fellowship to conduct field trials the company's Agri Centre of Excellence (ACE) in Ludhiana, Punjab.

The findings of research will be translated into guidance for small farmers to promote sustainability, financial stability and to eradicate food shortages.

The MoU follows the agreement signed recently between Cambridge University and Bharti Foundation to fund the research Programme.
