Agriculture census from July 1 in Kerala

The agriculture censuses are scheduled to be conducted by the Union government in districts of Kerala state, on July 1. These censuses are conducted every five years since 1970.

 

To recognize the importance of agriculture sector, the department of agriculture and cooperation, ministry of agriculture, Government of India conducts agriculture census to ensure better crop growth.

 

The 10th agriculture census will be conducted by the Economics and Statistic Department of the Kerala government.

 

In the survey a huge data collection to be taken in which reports included information on land use, ownership, distribution of crops, irrigation, pesticide and fertilizer use.

 

In the three-phased survey, details of the farm equipment and cattle will also be sought. The data will be gathered from the farmers.

 

A district-level coordination meeting for smooth conduct of the survey will be held under the chairmanship of the District Collector at the collectorate.
