The future of agriculture in India is “great” and people are hopeful about it, Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Radha Mohan Singh has said after holding a direct dialogue with the people across the nation through Facebook on Monday.
Of the 450 queries that were fielded to him on Facebook between 11am and 12 pm, he responded to 100 of them instantly.
He stated, “Responses of remaining questions are being communicated.” Adding more the minister said, “The prominent feature of the dialogue was that all of the queries were related to the agricultural sector”.
“In asking questions people seemed to be serious, and they asked innocently and with honesty. It can be stated that people are very keen about agriculture and future of agriculture in India is great,” Singh said in a statement.
Singh said that these questions reflect the status of various agriculture schemes being carried out in the country. He said that the implementation of the agriculture schemes takes place through states. “Therefore, based on the questions asked we get to know extent of agricultural progress in states,” he said.
